Shoumitro Goswami
Chief Executive Officer, Faculty

Shoumitro founded AustalGroup in 2004 and currently spends his time advising companies on M&A (AustalCapital) and teaching (AustalEducation). He spends part of his time teaching at various business schools around Bangalore and giving corporate lectures. Prior to this, Shoumitro worked in Investment Banking at Banc of America Securities in San Francisco in their Technology Group. Shoumitro also worked with Morgan Stanley where he spent his time in corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions and equity research. Shoumitro began his career in investment banking at Salomon Brothers in their Global Energy Corporate Finance Group. He was involved in mentoring incoming Financial Analysts at his previous companies and providing them with hands-on guidance.

Shoumitro graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Economics and East Asian Studies.

Ronald I. S. Tellis
Chief Financial Officer

Ronnie spent most of his career with the Indian subsidiaries of Imperial Chemical Industries Plc (ICI), U.K. He retired in 1993 as an Executive Director of a Public Limited Company promoted by ICI India Limited and NALCO Chemical Company, U.S.A., a Fortune 500 Company. He has over 30 years of exposure in India and overseas and has consulted companies on numerous financial issues such as joint ventures, restructurings and bankruptcies.

Ronnie is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Sridhar N.
Director, Faculty

Sridhar joined AustalGroup as a Director for AustalEducation. He spends time as an instructor at AustalEducation and Head of Research at AustalCapital. Prior to joining AustalGroup, Sridhar worked at a Long-Short Equity Hedge Fund based out of Hong Kong with US$500MM Assets Under Management. He spent his time there as an Investment Advisor with investments focused in Transport, Power and Retail. Sridhar began his career with GRO India Private Limited where he spent his time in the Capital Markets Group and Strategic Management Group. Sridhar worked closely with the top management to identify companies for a possible acquisition by GRO US.

Sridhar graduated from SDM Institute for Management and Development with a MBA in Finance. Sridhar also holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Karnataka University.

Pratap Giri Subramanyam
Advisor / Associate Faculty

Pratap Giri Subramanyam, is an accomplished finance practitioner, consultant, author and educator in the area of investment banking with over 22 years of experience. He specializes in strategic financial and corporate advisory services.

His professional experience includes working as a Manager in Project Finance and Merchant Banking with the Industrial Development Bank of India, Bombay (1988-94). He was also an independent management advisor in Corporate Advisory Services and independent director (1995 onwards) – in the areas of Investment Banking and Corporate Finance Advisory.  His transaction experience includes organizing Project Finance for infrastructure, Private Equity, IPO advisory, debt restructuring and acquisitions. Key areas are financial and transaction structuring, regulatory scrutiny, due diligence and valuation, financial modeling and documentation. He also has numerous academic affiliations. He continues to be a visiting faculty member and guest Speaker at ICAI, IIMB, SP Jain Mumbai, Dubai and Singapore, JNIDBI (Division of IDBI), TAPMI-CEE, UBI Institute at Bangalore, ICFAI, XIME and several corporates such as Oracle, Wipro and development banks of SAARC countries. He has conducted workshops for all leading PSU banks in project appraisal.

Pratap is an FCA an ACS, and a rank holder in the Chartered Accountancy Final Examination

He has published a number of books including:

• ‘Investment Banking – An Odyssey in High Finance’ under the McGraw Hill – CFM Professional Series in Finance’  published by Tata McGraw Hill, 2005. 
• ‘Investment Banking – Concepts, Analyses and Cases’ under the McGraw Hill – CFM Professional Series in Finance’  published by Tata McGraw Hill, 2008.
• Co-authored a book on Long Term Debt Financing published by the Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (KSCAA).
• Co-authored a book on Corporate Valuation  published by the KSCAA.
• Publishing articles and providing regular faculty support for ICAI programs at Bangalore.
